In this penultimate podcast in the 10-part series, “Working with Millennials,” I have a great conversation with Andrew Shapiro, Podcast Editor for Hunt Scanlon Media, about the challenges and opportunities presented by the rapidly-growing presence of Millennials in the workplace. Indeed, by 2020, Millennials will account for 40 percent of the workforce. This generation is motivated differently than Boomers or even Gen Xers. They want more flexibility in terms of how they do their job and how they get compensated for their time and success. Flexible office hours, the ability to work remotely, and forward-thinking polices about paid time-off (PTO) and family leave are all becoming essential elements of the modern work environment. Fortunately, Millennials have what companies need. They tend to focus on developing and understanding workplace relationships., and companies need employees who are skilled at building relationships and becoming influencers within the organization.
